Meeting Follow Up

A quick post as an overview of the meetings held on October 18th.

The Council meeting was scheduled to go first and unfortunately did not achieve quorum.  As there was also no quorum at their AGM, the Wilma Council has been dissolved.  Because it is required that all schools in Alberta have a Council, Mrs. Higgins has consulted Alberta Regulation 113/2007 Section 16(1) and established a temporary advisory committee to take over the duties and responsibilities of the Council.  If you can help with this committee please come to the next meeting (Tuesday, November 15 @ 7pm in the library) and put your name forward.  Within 40 days of the start of the next school year, an establishment meeting for a new Wilma Hansen Council will be held.  Please consider volunteering.  If you have any questions about the roles of the committee and/or the Council, you can send them to
scampsall@gmail.com and you will get an answer shortly.

The PA AGM was successful at filling all roles of the executive.  Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and energy for the Association.  We have Lynn J back as Chair, Tammy C returns for another term as Vice Chair, Nancy S will continue as secretary, Carol-Ann E makes a welcome return as Treasurer, Kathy W is our fund raiser,  our Casino Director is once again Kathy M, and our Bingo Director is Debbie K.  Thank you so much to all of you for support and dedication to the school and the Association.

Other items on the agenda discussed at the meeting: we will indeed have to pay the fine for not filling all the volunteer positions at the July bingo, Mrs. Higgins presented the staff 'wish list' for the year, the annual financial statement and budgets were presented, and two new fund raising efforts were discussed. The fund raising programs will be detailed shortly on the blog - stay tuned.

The School has also proposed adding a comfortable reading area in the North-West corner of the library.  This will be funded through a donation the School received upon the closure of Queensland Downs School and a plaque will be displayed to recognize this generous contribution.  The first Parent/Teacher conferences and book fair are scheduled to take place on November 9 and 10 in the School Gym.  The PA also welcomes back Mrs. Judy Lanko, a staff alumni of Wilma, who is helping out Mrs. Mallet in the school office.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday November 15th at 7pm in the library.

We will shortly be publishing the agendas and minutes of the PA meetings - stay tuned to the blog for more information.
